Some tips for those who want to add to the ParentLink web-site.
As a ParentLink member you are invited to contribute in all possible ways: sending comments, participating in the forum, contributing to collective documents (Guides, Cafes, Useful Addresses), creating new ones. Your experience is valuable, please share it.
Sending Comments & Participating in the Forum:
Remember netiquette! Flaming, arguing, repetitive posting on the same subject… are a "no no". Although English and Italian are this site main languages, you may use any language you like. For anonymous comments or forum posts, just create an anonymous login.
Contributing to Collective Documents
Guide
You can choose two ways to contribute to a Guide: you can write a Comment in the related section, or you can edit the text.
To edit the text click on the edit button at the bottom of the page. This will open an editor with a toolbar palette with options.
You can consult the wiki syntax description if you want some details; it is also available at the bottom of each page. There are some additional tips on how to make your text stand out, or more generali information in wikidot handbook.
Although wikidot automatically notes all changes, we recommend you make your newly inserted text visible. You can use italic, bold, another color ,…. If you want, you may also sign your comment.
We will try to provide always Italian and English versions of the guides…any contribution in this direction is welcome.
Cafe
Simply click on "Add a new comment" in the "Post your experience" section and write your text. You may use any language you like.
Useful Addresses
Click on "edit" at the bottom of the page and insert your new address using to the existing format (copy paste a previous address and type over it). Whenever possible try to provide your information both in English and Italian.
Creating a New Collective Document
You may want to create a new Guide, Cafe, or List of Useful Address. Nice: do it! But before doing it, read the guide below, which is essential to keep the website easy to navigate:
- Page Title: every page has a title and a name. The title of this page is "Instructions for Editors". The name is "system: instructions". You can see it as part of the website address at the top of each internet page. For this page the website address is: http://parentlink.wikidot.com/system:instructions. When editing your page, you will be asked to insert the "Title of the page", which for this page is "Instructions for Editors". Choose always a self-explanatory title: titles appear in the Site map. So, every page must have a different Title.
- Tags: tags are keywords assigned to the page. Try to add at least one tag to any page you create: how? click on "tags" at the bottom of the page and follow the instructions. Here are the tags we already use
